Casas Karen

This was the first house that Karen built back in 1989. It has a large covered terrace at the front for dining al fresco. Inside, the open plan design makes this a very sociable space. The large living room has two built-in sofas (both can be used as single beds) arranged around an open fireplace making it especially cosy when the wind whips up off the Atlantic. An ample kitchen separated by an Andalucian tiled breakfast bar is raised up slightly behind it and is a great space for keen cooks. The bedroom has a hand-made wooden double bed and two windows, one overlooking the countryside and another opening onto the courtyard that blooms with bright pink Bougainvillea for much of the year. In the afternoon you get the best of the golden light of the Costa de la Luz that comes streaming through the window, filling the whole room with sun kissed colours. Perfect for a siesta.

Casa Karen 1 and Casa Karen 2 can be connected via a pretty terracotta-tiled courtyard to form one large house that sleeps six to eight.
